Docentbacken, close to Stockholm University, is owned by Brf Naturvetaren, a tenant-owners' society. Stockholm University rents thirty-one apartments and the University Accommodation Center administers the rental.

Two-room apartments size 60-70 sq.m. suitable for two persons or a small family; bedroom, living room, kitchen and shower/toilet.

The rent includes water, heating, electricity, access to Internet and cable TV.

Note: From January 1, 2010, Radiotjänst (www.radiotjanst.se) has decided that sub-tenants must pay the TV licence fee if the TV is included in the sublet.

Brf Naturvetaren
A committee runs and deals with the daily routines in the tenant owners’ society. The members have together drawn up regulations, which the members of the society as well as the tenants have to follow. We ask that you contact our reception with any questions that you might have regarding your stay at Docentbacken.

Furnishing and other equipment
The apartments are furnished including basic cooking and household equipment. The beds have mattress, mattress cover, quilt/blanket and pillow but you need to bring your own sheets and towels. Deficiencies regarding the inventory should be reported to the reception. When a tenant leaves, damaged or missing items will be replaced and charged to the tenant.

The tenant is responsible for keeping the apartment clean during the whole lease and for leaving it clean for the new tenant. All apartments are equipped with a vacuum cleaner, mop and pail. The tenant is responsible for buying new vacuum bags during the lease.

Television
The apartments have a TV-set connected to the Swedish network and to a number of TV channels supplied by Tele2 (SVT1, SVT2, TV4, SVT24, Barnkanalen/Kunskapskanalen, TV6, TV7, Star, Viasat3, 5, TV4Sport, Eurosport, Discovery, National Geographic, CNN, and Discovery Science). Please do not change the settings, as this can affect the standard setup and require help from the reception in resetting the system. Internet
All apartments have access to Tele2 Internet via a socket placed in the hall of the apartment, close to the apartment door, and the charge for this service is included in the rent. After having connected your computer to the socket you should have immediate access to Internet. If you have problems, please contact Tele2 at 0200-25 25 25 or see www.tele2.se/kundservice.

Telephone
There are several ways of arranging for a connection of telephone (Tele2, Telia, etc.). For website information regarding suppliers in Sweden, see Pricerunner. The tenant is responsible for all matters related to telephone costs and UAC will take no responsibility.

Keys
All main entrance doors at Docentbacken have an electronic key system allowing entrance to the main entrance door and to the basement. Each tenant gets a set of regular keys for the apartment door and basement, an electronic key for the main entrance door and room for heavy garbage and the door code for the main entrance door. Tenants at Docentbacken 1 A and B also get a small key for the laundry booking cylinder.

Smoke detectors
All apartments are equipped with smoke detectors. UAC checks the detector between tenants and the tenant is responsible for notifying UAC of any deficiency of the detector during the tenancy. If you hear a beeping sound, the battery of the detector needs to be exchanged. Please remove it and contact UAC.

Home insurance
UAC recommends all tenants to sign their own home insurance (hemförsäkring) regarding property and liability as the insurance coverage paid for by UAC is limited to the furnishing of the apartment/room and does not cover the tenant's personal belongings or liability. Home insurances are sold by most insurance companies in Sweden.

General service
For general service in the apartment, use the direct email service on our homepage (see Maintenance Service under heading Staying at UAC), send an email to info@uac.se or call 08-524 821 90.

Emergency service
For emergency service in the apartment/building (water, heating, sanitary, electricity) during non-office hours, call Dygnet Runt Fastighetsjour at 08-18 70 00. For elevator problems, call Otis Hissar at 0200-21 21 11. For problems with the garage door, call Crawford Doors 020-22 98 99 (daytime) or 020-24 98 00 (nights and weekends/holidays).

Miscellaneous
To keep the humidity out of bathrooms/shower/rooms, we ask that you keep those doors open as much as possible to allow for better ventilation and less dampness.

Barbecuing on balconies or outside apartments is prohibited.

Storage rooms
The storage rooms are located in the basement of the buildings. Each storage space is marked with the number of the apartment. Contact the reception if you have any questions regarding these storage rooms. Please note that pad locks are required and that storing valuables in these rooms is not recommended. New arrivals receive a key for the pad lock provided by UAC.

Car parking and garage
The car park in front of Docentbacken 1 A and B is a 24-hour pay-parking area. Monday-Friday at 09.00-17.00 short-term parking is available along Docentbacken (max. 2 hrs) free of charge. At other times parking is free at Docentbacken and along Bergiusvägen and the hours/days limited during the cleaning day of the week.

Bicycles
For bicycles there are bicycle stands outdoors, in special bicycle rooms marked ”CYKLAR” or, in Docentbacken 1B, ”EL”, as well as in designated areas on each garage floor.

Prams
Prams can be stored in the special room on the entrance floor of the apartment buildings. Look for the sign ”CYKLAR” or, in Docentbacken 1B, ”EL”.

Laundry
The laundry room for Docentbacken 1 A and B is located in the basement of 1 A. Use your “K” key to get to the basement with the elevator or open the basement door with your electronic key. There is a time schedule with a cylinder for laundry bookings and the key for the cylinder is the small key that you receive when you arrive. When moving out, please park the cylinder on the booking chart and return the key to the reception.

For Docentbacken 3-13 you will find the laundry rooms on the first floor of Docentbacken 3, 7 and 11. Look for the sign ”TVÄTTSTUGA”. You have to write your name on the booking schedule. Each laundry room is equipped with washing machines, dryer and hand washing facilities. Please read the instructions carefully!

A few simple rules to follow when using the laundry rooms

Only book for one occasion at a time.
Only enter the laundry room during your booked time.

Do not wash your laundry before or after the times that are allowed.
Keep the laundry room nice and tidy, clean the machines after every use.
Please respect your neighbors and these rules.

Garbage disposal
The garbage disposal chutes for general household waste are located between each floor of the staircase in the building. Let your wet garbage drain, put the garbage in plastic bags and seal them tightly before putting them in the chute. Open the lid of the chute carefully and be sure to close the lid properly after the disposal.

There is a room for heavy garbage (grovsopor) in the garage, entrance at the side of Docentbacken 3. You enter the garage via the door to the right of the garage door using your electronic key. The garbage room is to the left when you are inside the garage. The room has a steel door, which you open with your electronic key.

Under no circumstances should you put your household waste in this room, which is only for dry garbage such as larger cartons (well-folded), clothes, broken kitchen utensils, small batteries (no car batteries), magazines, newspapers, and glassware. Everything must be neatly put away according to instructions. This room is open Monday-Sunday 10.00-12.00 and 18.00-20.00.

Electric appliances must not be left in this room but taken to a recycling depot, see www.sorab.se.

If you have questions regarding sorting your garbage, please ask the reception. For most types of cans and bottles you receive a refund at the local shop. Close to ICA Lappis (see below) there is a large green container where you can put bottles and broken glass for which you do not get a refund.

How to get to
Stockholm University: walk downhill Professorsslingan, cross Bergiusvägen and walk straight to the university or take bus 40 from stop Professorsslingan to stop Universitetet.
Stockholm City: bus 40 will take you to bus stop Universitetet for subway connection to the City or for bus 70 to Odenplan for other subway and bus connections.
