Who can apply

Accommodation for Karolinska Institutet

Eligible to apply for apartments and student rooms:

  • Foreign guest researchers with a doctoral degree and Post Docs
  • Foreign PhD students

Eligible to apply for student rooms:

  • Foreign undergraduate students

Eligible to apply for student rooms at Strix & Pax:

Foreign undergraduate students centrally accepted to an exchange program through the International Student Department at Karolinska Institutet

Accommodation for Stockholm University, the Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm School of Economics

Eligible to apply for apartments:

Foreign guest researchers with a doctoral degree and Post Docs

Foreign PhD students (Erasmus and Master students are ineligible to apply)

How to apply

Read all the information about the area/s where you intend to apply for accommodation before applying. Make sure that you are eligible to apply for the accommodation area.

  • Fill out and submit the on-line application form (see Apply here).
    Make sure to fill out the form correctly. An incorrect application form will not be processed.
    As contact person you should give the name and email address of your supervisor /professor /professor's secretary /student advisor at the inviting institution.
  • We ask that you submit a copy of your letter of invitation/acceptance or other document confirming your affiliation with the Swedish host institution. The document can be sent by email to application@uac.se, or faxed to +46(0)8 524 821 91.

Limited rental time

The maximum rental time for a student room is 1 year.

The maximum limit for an apartment is 2 years.

Why is the rental time limited?

UAC is intended as a first place to stay when a researcher/student comes from abroad. If you are going to stay for a longer period you are expected to find other accommodation while staying with UAC.

Important to know - please read before applying

The accommodation is intended for temporary stays only and not for researchers holding permanent positions or having permits of residence.

Applications need to be made no later than six months after arrival in Sweden. If you have been in Sweden more than six months, you are ineligible to apply.

 

UAC is intended as a first place to stay when a researcher/student comes from abroad. If you are going to stay for a longer period you are expected to find other accommodation while staying with UAC.

 

The accommodation is foremost intended for researchers, Post Docs, PhD students and exchange students. Karolinska Institutet Master students and free movers are offered accommodation only insofar as there are vacancies.

 

Foreign researchers and foreign students are defined as follows:

Post Doc = accepted to a Post Doc position
Researcher = researcher with a doctoral degree
PhD student= doctoral candidate
Undergraduate student (at Karolinska Institutet only) = accepted to a ground level program
